The Tasman Community Trust was formed in 2013 to establish community based services and to fund community workers in our district. The Trust is registered with the Charities Commission, being non-profit in nature and intent—all funds received are used in the local community. We are registered with the Charities Commission (CC50427), so all donations made to the Trust are tax-deductable and our financial records are a matter of public record.
The Tasman community part of what is now called the Ruby Coast near Motueka. It covers the area from the "Bluffs" cliffs to Mariri, including the Tasman Village, Kina Beach and the Kina Peninsula.
This area has traditionally produced apples, pears and timber, and has been home to many families who made their living from the land. In recent decades, however, we have seen a decline in these traditional activities and a rise in vineyards and olive groves, a growing artistic community and an increasing number of "Lifestyle" developments. This makes Coastal Tasman a unique place for both locals and visitors, with potteries, vineyards, studios, beaches, a golf course with outstanding views, and two local cafés. While the population of Tasman is not large, it is increasing steadily with the gradual transition away from large land holdings to smaller rural-residential properties.
